At LINE&JO, all fine jewellery is designed by Goldsmith and Creative Director Line Hallberg. In order to make your dearest pieces last, tender love and care are required.
All LINE&JO fine jewellery is made from precious metals – either sterling silver 925S or solid gold (14 or 18 karats). Precious metals are soft and cannot withstand hard knocks or high temperatures. The same applies to precious pearls and stones, which is why we recommend handling your jewellery with care, as these cannot be repaired once broken. Hairspray, perfume and cosmetics can also cause damage your jewellery, which is why we advise you to put it on as the last step when getting ready and take it off before any kind of bathing, sports or rough manual work, as well as before going to bed to avoid the buildup of soap, dirt and sweat. Our twist earrings for helix piercings are however to be expected, as these are designed to be carried at all times.
Apart from tender love and care, another important step of jewellery care is storing your pieces correctly when not wearing them. Always store your LINE&JO fine jewellery in their original jewellery boxes. Lay your chain earrings, bracelets and necklaces flat in their box to avoid tangling, and store each piece separately to avoid scratches, which surfaces like high-polish and silk matte ruthenium-covered are particularly sensitive to.
SOLID GOLD, STERLING SILVER AND DIAMONDS
Add a bit of dish soap to lukewarm water and place the jewellery in the water. Use a soft, clean toothbrush to remove dirt from the jewellery. Rinse the jewellery thoroughly in clean water. Finish off by wiping the jewellery gently with a soft cloth.
POLISHED STERLING SILVER
To maintain the bright surface of high-polished sterling silver pieces, polish them with a silver polish cloth. Silverclean can be used if needed.
SILK MATTE RUTHENIUM-COVERED STERLING SILVER
Our silk matte sterling silver jewellery is covered with grey ruthenium, which naturally and slowly wears off. This is an intentional part of the LINE&JO design. As the ruthenium wears off, the sharp details of the design become more distinct as the bright and matte surfaces emphasise the beauty of sterling silver. The matte surface of your ruthenium-covered sterling silver jewellery can be restored if needed. Please contact email@example.com for further information or visit one of our boutiques.
SILK MATTE SOLID GOLD
The silk matte surface of our solid gold pieces wears off with regular use. This is an intentional part of the design. As the gold transforms from matte to bright, the sharp details of the design become more distinct, and the bright and matte surfaces emphasise the beauty of the solid gold. The matte surface of your solid gold jewellery can be restored if needed. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for further information or visit one of our boutiques.
Wipe pearls with a soft and slightly damp cloth. Never use a brush or any soap or chemicals.
When owning a LINE&JO pearl necklace, be aware of any discolouration, changes or looseness of the thread of the necklace, as this may indicate the need for rethreading. Please contact email@example.com for more information about rethreading options or visit one of our boutiques.
CORALS, OPALS, TURQUOISE AND LAPIS LAZULI
Wipe corals, opals, turquoise and lapis lazuli carefully with a soft and slightly damp cloth. Never use a brush or any soap or chemicals.
ANNUAL GOLDSMITH CHECK
We recommend getting your jewellery checked and professionally cleaned periodically. Especially chains, locks, solderings, and diamond settings should be checked, as these are particularly sensitive to wear. We are more than happy to perform this service for you – please, contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or visit one of our boutiques.
